Computer tech—delias.com

Wes

The website that I picked was delias.com. Delias.com is a shopping website with clothing and shoes and teen entertainment such as movies and celebrities. I really like the content of delias.com but beyond that, there’s the formatting and special images and links that makes the website what it is.  A website can use formatting and colors and special pictures or effects that makes the website more visually pleasing and fun to visit.

Things I like—I like the logo on the top of the page. It’s large and easy to read, in a cute font, and kind of sets the style for the rest of the pages that can be accessed. I like the moving slideshow on the main page with pictures of the featured clothes. It’s like a sneak peak of what is yet to be seen. In the top right corner is writing that says “find a store near you!” It has a little icon circling it that is moving, this is a cute feature and interesting to have on the page. I like the icons that move. It pulls attention to something. I like that the website is colorful and fun and poppy.  I like the pull down menus that are highlighted when you roll over them and present more options. It shows you what’s under this page without clicking the page and searching. It’s like a glossary for each separate page.  I like the notebook kind of layout. Things are kind of scattered in a way that makes it look as it somebody had doodled in a notebook. I think this layout was a good choice for the targeted teenage girl audience.

Things I don’t like—Something that I would change on the main page is the number of moving icons. One or two works well and draws attention to the page, but too many can become overwhelming. On this website there is one in the corner, one in the center, and one on the left side of the webpage. Also, the one that is in the corner, circling the words, is cute, but could maybe draw attention from the main focus of the website, the clothing and featured clothes in the center of the webpage. Something that I don’t like about the slideshow in the center of the page is that it only shows 3 pictures again and again, but if you move on to different pages to view different item, then I guess you don’t have to stay on that main page for long and look at the same pictures over and over again. The main page is quite busy with a bunch of different special offers and sub texts that present offers.

In my blog, I would like to incorporate some of the moving icons that make things more interactive and fun. I would like to have a more colorful and bright layout, unlike the one I have now.  I like the links that are highlighted as you roll over them and I think that would be really cool to incorporate into my blog. I would like my title to have like a different font a color, something that makes it pop out and more personalized.

The layout of a website is very important to the website itself. It gives off a vibe of what the website is about and kind of what the product is.  The colors, fonts, and organization of a webpage is very important and for blogs, it says something about you and your personality.
